An Interesting Start
OK the next two days were not super fun or interesting (and I took very few pictures), so we are going to go through them rapid fire!
Monday (4.25.22)
We slept in this SUPER CUTE cabin from Sunday to Monday—or well, we tried. You see, the inside wasn’t insulated, and while we did bring sleeping bags and a whole bunch of blankets and hand warmers, we
FROZE
It got down to 27 that night and with uninsulated cabin did almost nothing to protect us from the cold night air.
After a fitful sleep, I woke up shivering around 5 in the morning and decided it wasn’t worth trying to stay in the cabin and went to the car. Thankfully, the car butt warmers heated up quickly and I stayed in there until after sunrise, trying to get more sleep.
Jenna turned on this little propane space heater that didn’t stay on for long or heat up much and stayed in the cabin. I still have no idea how in the world she managed to stay warm!
While she slept in, I sat with the fire and made tea and read! It was really nice and super pretty, but it got too cold that way too.
We ended up going into Flagstaff to a coffee shop to plan what we were doing, because neither of us wanted to stay another night in the freezing cabin.
Macy’s European Coffeeshop and Bakery had such good coffee and chai. It is, hands down, one of the best chai tea latte’s I’ve ever had—and paired with the “French Cinnamon Roll” (a flaky croissant with a cinnamon paste inside and topped with cinnamon roll icing that was divine) I was in heaven,
We decided to stay in a hotel that night and cancel our campsite in Kanab, worried that it would be cold and, after a long day of driving and no sleep, we felt we didn’t want to deal with camping for the 5 days we had originally planned. Instead, we found a cute little place in Colorado City, AZ!
When we got to the hotel and it was warm and cozy and had a nice bed and running water and food—I have so much appreciation for these things after only one freezing night of not having them!
Favorite Thing about Today:
Anna’s - Food and drink from cafe + chilling in the morning + hotel
Jenna’s - Cafe + hotel
Tuesday (4.26.22)
After a wonderful night sleep in a hotel, 🎶 we were on the road again ~🎶
One of the highways we ended up on was very quiet—not a lot of other cars—and it was in this beautiful piece of desert, so we stopped to take pictures on the road. I was super nervous the whole time—even though the road was really quiet—but this is still one of my all time favorite photos.

Some things we saw along the way....
little house built around a boulder!
We ended up getting to CO City before check in at our place,
so we went to this beautiful park!
And that evening, after settling in,
we did some research and planning! (and had to take some pretty photos of it!)
